Newly signed Aston Villa FC midfielder, Marvellous Nakamba has become one of the rare breeds in the league of extra ordinary gentlemen to ply his trade in one of the world’s most prestigious league, the English Premier League.
Putting pen on paper for a five year long contract at newly promoted Villa side meant that Nakamba became the fourth Zimbabwean international to play in the prestigious league, joining a rare crop of successful football icons Bruce Grobbelar, Peter Ndlovu and Benjani Mwaruwaru.
The former Club Brugge midfielder made a £10.8m move to scarlet and blue side and could not hide his excitement for joining the club in his first ever interview after his unveiling.
Having played in low key European leagues in France, Netherlands and Belgium, Nakamba was elated to have finally made it to the best league in the world, a dream come true for the Bulawayo bred footballer.
“It’s always been a dream for me to play in the Premier League and to be competing against the best players in the world. I will be trying my best, of course – and I will give everything. I give everything for the team every time. That’s who I am. I fight for the team. I care about helping the team. You will see that”.
These words are likely to endear the central midfielder more to the Villa fans who have been crying for the Warriors international’s signature ever since he was first linked with a move to the club over a month ago.
