Bulawayo– A forex trader, who was once swindled of his lifetime savings by conmen, has seen it wise to open an academy at a city varsity with plans to expand to other tertiary institutions in the pipeline .
Blessing Zhou, a former student of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) is on a drive to educate all foreign currency traders on the risks associated with the trade.
Before Zhou initiated the Forex Dealers’ Academy, he got a rude awakening after being swindled a whooping $6 000 by another ‘trading investor’ and there is no hope of recovering the cash.
His story reads pretty much of a novice young businessman who was once bitten and has since been shy to ever enter a deal blindly. Together with about 25 people other people who were ripped off their money, Zhou went on to form the new academy whose first intake is students at NUST.
Asked on his idea, Zhou said the academy is meant to enlighten other traders on how to best protect their business.
He said the academy is registered with the Zimbabwe Youth Council.
“The Forex Trading Academy is genuine and is fully registered under the Zimbabwe Youth Council. This is the time that fellow traders be taught that knowledge is power. If we get to know how to handle our enterprise, it would be better for all of us.”
This is wholly done to protect other forex traders.
“I realised a lot of people were being scammed by these people who move around parading as forex traders. It’s very painful to lose your life’s savings, especially when these guys sell you false dreams. So instead of watching people lose, I saw it wise to open an academy as a way of empowering people,” he explained.
The finance merchant said his target is to catch the students whilst their minds are still fresh, before they are confused by the pressure of the real business market.
“At the NUST, we have also started a club (Nust forex club), where we actually teach forex trading to students for free,” added Zhou.
He said he saw this as an opportunity for the youth to make money as they are facing difficulties in securing jobs.
“Forex is the only thing that has proved to be lucrative, 6-7trillion dollars is transacted per day. What stops you or me to grab a chunk from that fee? With forex trading you don’t need to go to work; you can work from the comfort of wherever you are as long as you have an internet connection. So instead of working hard, I prefer working
smart,” Zhou said.
