Bulawayo– Evans Madhuku, the Bulawayo Christian League outfit Flying Stars gaffer, has revealed he is confident that his charges stand a fair chance of lifting up the 2019 top gong.
Speaking after qualifying for the quarter finals at the yearly orientation tournament for netball and football that marks the beginning of the season and serves as an introduction of the new teams, an elated Madhuku seemed impressed with his team.
He said, “The boys are hungry for goals. I like their attitude, if they keep up the good work, they stand a great chance of winning the league.”
“We don’t know whom we face next in the tournament. It’s not yet clarified because the other groups did not finish round robin games,” he also revealed.
Madhuku said the tourney served its function, as it gave them a glimpse of how prepared they are for the next season which is commencing soon.
“We hope to do better this year. The tournament at UCE helped us to fine tune the team. The boys are looking forward to the 2019 season, and victory on this tournament will be a morale booster to them.”
Madhuku went on to wish other teams the best on the tourney and the upcoming season.
“We are brothers in fellowship and the primary goal for me is to fellowship through sport more than competing,” he said.
Flying Stars lost their claim to the 2018 top gong at the eleventh hour after spending the better most of the season at the apex of the log
