Nyema Villagers expect their leadership to engage in fast track land reform programe, as they have noticed that leadership from other two wards are taking their land bit by bit.
In a meeting held in Nyema village attended by villagers and executive ward 20 committee concerning Nyema land which is being taken by ward 5 and ward 2 it came into conclusion that there should be fast track land reform program.
Mqalisi Moyo Zanu pf youth chair person in Umzingwane District said, “even though we engage offices responsible for land it will not help us because they are the ones who gave, Owen Sibanda Zanu Pf district member from ward 2 to give out land whilst they are aware that it belongs to Nyema village”.
“However we cannot blame those from ward 5 because ward 2 paved the way and they followed suit” said Hebson Mangena youth representative. It is said that Mpiyabo from ward 5 made it clear that they also had rights to give out land as long as it was state land, and fell under the administration of either village.
These neighbouring villages Tereline under ward 5 and Nyema under ward 2 have for long scrambled for land following the that Tereline gave out land which has been reserved for livestock of both villages.
Concluding the meeting Silibaziso Nyoni ward 20 acting Councillor, revealed that the matter should be taken into consideration and those who needed land for housing stands should have their names written down so that they be given small pieces of land from the portions of vacant spaces left within the two wards, ward 5 and ward 2.
