Bulawayo– Emakhandeni Cricket Club will be hoping to emerge victorious when they lock horns with Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC) in a do or die encounter at Queens sports club this weekend.
The winner will be crowned champions of the 2019 cricket club games.
Emakhandeni Cricket Club are currently at the apex of the league with 64 points, while second placed BAC are at 61 points, and the former’s win will cement their claim to the 2019 club top gong this weekend.
Allan Chigoma, Matabeland Tuskers and Emakhandeni cricket club all rounder said he was looking forward to the match and highlighted that he was hoping to play crucial role for his side.
“The confidence is high and the guys are waiting for the challenge. Obviously it feels good to be playing the final and l hope we can return the trophy to ekasi,” he said.
Chigoma who is a well built palpable manic is currently ranked number 2 in the club competitions with 335 runs, 26 runs behind Bright Phiri who is at the summit of the rankings with 361 runs.
He said he was hoping to end the club games at the apex.
“It feels okay to be at the top but it was not my main goal to be number two because one wants to be at the top all the times. However, I take this as a challenge; will take it with both hands. I still have a chance to finish on a high,” said a confident Chigoma.
Chigoma also said he was hoping to finish at the top so as to gain more recognition in the Zimbabwe Cricket scene.
“I am looking forward to play in a higher level such as the national team and the overseas in the near future”
“I know it’s not going to be easy, and as such am hoping to keep on working hard and stay at the top as it will make me recognisable within the county’s boarders and beyond,” he said.
