Premier League pacesetters, Chapungu FC, have extended their romance with telecommunications giants -NetOne , of another marathon season in a improved deal which will benefit the airmen up to RTGS$17K.
Chapungu are the latest beneficiary from the polygamous relationship with the network provider getting RTGS$120K sponsorship plus RTGS$50k for performance based incentives and logistics. NetOne also handed over three sets of kits to the club.
The network service provider is also in sponsorship deals with other three premiership sides, Black Rhinos getting the same amount as their fellow army men while giants Caps Utd and Highlanders FC got a lion’s share of the deal getting a whooping RTGS$1 500 000.
Receiving the sponsorship package at Josiah Tungamirai Airbase, an elated Chapungu FC chairman, Elisha Masakadza, expressed gratitude over thee sponsorship and hopes that it will take them to their season’s goal of finishing amongst the top six clubs.
“Among other things this sponsorship takes care of our winning bonuses and that on its on is a motivation to our players and this will ensure us of a position above top on the league table,” Masakadza said.
Netone chief executive, Lazarus Muchenje said his company was happy to be associated with Chapungu FC as the club is professional and does not put his company’s name in disrepute.
“We want to be associated with people who do not tarnish our brand and Chapungu are good in that. The way they conduct themselves motivated us to come in for another year,” Muchenje said.
Match day 2 will be action packed as the Netone sponsored teams square off in some of the country’s vicious derbies, with the army sides Chapungu FC and Black Rhinos FC promising each other a blood bath at Mandava Stadium while perennial rivals Caps Utd and Highlanders battle it out at Barbourfields in Bulawayo.
