Ngezi Platinum Stars have parted ways with their coach Erol Akbay and his assistant Tendai Chikuni barely a week after another platinum giant FC Platinum divorced with its number one man Norman Mapeza.
The former Highlanders gaffer joined the Mhondoro based side in January this year, and failed to make a mark at one of the cash cows of local football, managing only four points from the possible eighteen in his last outings.
In a press release, club president S. Segula said:
“Ngezi Platinum Stars FC wishes to announce the departure of Head coach Erol Akbay and his assistant Tendai Chikuni from the club with immediate effect. The separation was with mutual consent,” he revealed.
The departure of Akbay from Ngezi Platinum Stars has left a mark in local soccer history as a season with a remarkable number of coaches leaving clubs midway though the season.
This follows the sacking of Nicolas Masomere by Manica Diamonds, Chitembwe quitting Caps United and recently Mapeza moving away from log leaders and current champions FC platinum.
