Africa Centre for Business Studies (ACEBS) has proved to be the hub of budding talents in literature as it is planning to hold its second competition Summer Literary Contest on the 5th of October following a similar contest in August this year.
Running under the theme :Identifying ,realising ,unlocking and developing special talents in young people , the contest will be held at the college and is aimed at nurturing young talents so that they can be among the world’s best in public speaking, drama, poetry and writing .
The college’s principal, Mr. Walter Musanga emphasised that the competitions are meant to encourage critical thinking, reading and writing culture which is fast fading among today’s youth.
“The Summer Young writers contest is organised by ACEBS college to harness energy , creativity ,talent nurturing and realisation in promoting a culture of peace ,unity and sustainable development . Specifically, the contest aims at developing critical thinking , reading and writing culture , debating and dialogue , public speaking and poem reciting among young people so as to understand the changing trends of the world and as a result become better leaders of tomorrow,” Mr Musanga said.
The contest shall have six categories namely ,debate , drama, quiz, poetry, public speaking and literary writing.
Winners during the competitions will not go home empty handed but will be rewarded handsomely as individuals who come up tops will pocket ZW$3000 while the first runner ups will take home ZW$2000 and the third runners up will walk away with ZW$1000.
The high school is founded on the principles of Information and technology where skills and talents inherent in young people are realised , nurtured and pursued for future use.
The college is situated 1,5 km from Mvuma town along Mvuma-Gweru road.
